Fukuda Cabinet Launches and Wakabayashi Appointed as Agriculture Minister The cabinet of Fukuda was launched on September 25, 2007. Mr. Takeo Fukuda, Prime Minister reappointed Mr. Masatoshi Wakabayashi as Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries （MAFF）. Mr. Wakabayashi was elected to a member of House Representatives( the Lower House) from the first time in 1983. Then since 1998, as a member of the House of Councillors ( the Upper House), he has held prominent positions such as Chairperson for LDP Policy Board in the House of Councillors, Minister of the Environment (September, 2006-August, 2007) and MAFF Minister (double as the Environment Minister, August, 2007), and MAFF Minister (September, 2007-). In addition, Messrs Masao Iwanaga, LDP lower house member of Saga Prefecture, and Hiromi Iwanaga, LDP upper house member of Saga Prefecture, were reappointed as Senior Vice-Minister of MAFF , and Messrs Yaichi Tanigawa, LDP lower hose member of Nagasaki Prefecture, and Yuji Sawa, Komeito upper hose member of Tokyo, were also renamed as Parliamentary Secretary for MAFF. |
